The Atlanta Hawks Organization is making a positive impact on the local Atlanta community through various Foundation efforts and community initiatives. They align their community outreach– through their Foundation, corporate and community partners, employees and players to build bridges through basketball and practice being “True to Atlanta.”
After a meeting with Jon Babul, Hawks Vice President of Basketball Programs, last May, Jon knew just how to support our student-athletes with qualifying disabilities across Georgia this year! Through a very generous donation from the Atlanta Hawks, each student athlete on each team across the AdaptED Sports League received an official Hawks “practice” uniform to wear for wheelchair basketball practice each week. In addition to practice uniforms, the Hawks donated t-shirts for coaches and athletes, as well as to use for promotional items for Adapted Sports events, including all of our AAASP State Championships (Wheelchair Basketball, Wheelchair Football, Wheelchair Handball and Adapted Track & Field.)
“At the Atlanta Hawks, we believe the power of sport should be accessible to everyone,” said Babul. “Our partnership with AAASP reflects our commitment to removing barriers for student-athletes of all abilities, and we’re proud to support their journey by providing jerseys and gear that help them take the court with confidence.”
Thank you to Jon and the entire Atlanta Hawks Organization for their support of adapted sports; partnerships like this one helps AAASP to continue creating opportunities for student-athletes with disabilities to get “off the sidelines and into the game.”
AAASP extends its sincere thanks to the Atlanta Hawks for investing in the success of adapted athletes and helping build more communities through sport.
