AAASP:
Tell us a little about yourself… where did you grow up, go to school, college? how long have you been teaching, etc?

Jacqueline Randall:
I moved all over the place, including Arizona, but graduated high school from Marietta High School in Marietta, GA. I attended Georgia College and State University and will begin classes this summer at Valdosta State University for my specialist. I am a PE teacher at Russell Elementary School, and this is my sixth year there, seventh year teaching. I have coached softball and many years of soccer.

AAASP:
When were you first introduced to AdaptED sports?

JR:
My first year of teaching at Russell, I was asked by our county’s adapted PE teacher to come to our school to showcase the Sharks and wheelchair sports. This was my first introduction to AdaptED Sports.

AAASP:
Why did you get involved with AAASP?

JR:
I love coaching–developing players in their skills and as individuals. I knew AAASP would provide a unique opportunity for coaching and different perspective on sports. I also knew that getting involved with AAASP would develop me as a coach and a person.

AAASP:
Which AdaptED Sports do you coach?

JR:
Varsity Handball and Basketball

AAASP:
Tell us about you off the court—  we would love to hear more — your family, your outside activities, your accomplishments, hobbies, etc.!

JR:
I am married to Mr. Coach Randall (that’s what my students call him) and we have two dogs and one cat. I love sports and often play adult league sports- soccer, flag football, volleyball, and bowling. However, I spend most of my time golfing, watching Liverpool soccer games, doing yoga, and going to church.

AAASP:
What did you learn through playing sports? (any takeaway lessons that you will share with athletes?)

JR:
Each season set goals for yourself, share those goals, and allow someone (a coach, teammate, parent, etc.) to hold you accountable to ensure you obtain those goals. Growth should always be your focus, because there is always room to improve in some capacity- if you’re not growing, why keep doing it?

AAASP:
Any advice you’d like to share with AAASP athletes?

JR:
Stay disciplined in all that you do.

AAASP:
Goals for the future?

JR:
Continue working with and growing the Sharks and the program.
