AAASP hosted a collegiate signing on at the AAASP Wheelchair Basketball Camp in June for Gwinnett County HEAT’s own Jeremiah Hopson, who will be going to play Wheelchair Basketball at the collegiate level at Southwest Missouri State this Fall.
Jeremiah was a member of the Gwinnett HEAT for 5 years playing wheelchair handball, wheelchair basketball and wheelchair football. Jeremiah was a team leader in the way he approaches the game and encourages his teammates. He has been the HEAT’s leading scorer in handball and basketball last year. In football, he played quarterback and free safety. At quarterback he made the offense run effectively. On defense, he was the defensive leader making plays and stopping the opponents.
“The best thing about Jeremiah Hopson is how coachable he is,” shared Mike Phillips, Area Coordinator for the Gwinnett HEAT. “He was always working on improving his skills so he could perform at the highest level while helping his teammates to be the best they could be. Jeremiah is the player you can always count on to make the play needed at the right time. He is a pleasure to coach. You can always count on Jeremiah Hopson to give his best effort at all times…he plays the game the way it should be played.”
Congratulations to Jeremiah on this great accomplishment!
