AAASP Press Release

Founding Board Member Leslie Sweatman

AAASP News, Press Releases

It is with very heavy hearts that we share that Leslie Sweatman, AAASP Founding Board member and longtime colleague, lost her battle with cancer this morning. Leslie was a friend, mentor and light to all of us. In addition to her board service, Leslie held positions in the organization that included Coach, Lead Official, Training Director and State Coordinator. Leslie’s passion for her students and the Adapted Sports programs was always on display.

Our heartfelt condolences go out to her husband, Rod and children Sara and Zack. Leslie’s sister, Robyn Hootselle, is AAASP’s long time Sports Manager. The family also welcomed Leslie and Rod’s first grandchild, Farrah, in February. Leslie is also survived by a brother, Brad King and her mother, Sandy.

As a founding board member of the American Association of Adapted Sports Programs (AAASP), Leslie’s influence will continue to be felt for as long as kids with physical disabilities are served through these programs. Leslie will be dearly missed.
