Congratulations to Peach County Rolling Trojans Head Coach Walter Johnson for being named the 2023-2024 GHSA/NFHS Coach of the Year for Adapted Sports.
Coach Johnson and other winners will be recognized at a pregame presentation prior to the GHSA 4A State Championship football game on Monday, December 16th at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. A former AAASP student athlete himself, playing for the Houston County Sharks, Walter Johnson went on to play wheelchair basketball on scholarship for 5 years at Southwest Minnesota State University. He was named First Team All-American while there. He also led the team in 3-point percentage. He now teaches at Byron Elementary School, and is the Head Coach of the Peach County Rolling Trojans.
In the team’s first season in the AdaptED Sports League, the Rolling Trojans were state runner ups in their division in wheelchair basketball; state champions in the division in wheelchair football, and state runner ups in their division in wheelchair handball. Coach Johnson has made his mark early; we look forward to future seasons!
Once again, congratulations Coach Johnson — we are so proud! Thank you for all you do for the student athletes!
