Nancy comes to the Board of AAASP as a former AAASP athlete. She has been an avid participant in a variety of adaptive athletic sports since 1986 and regularly continues to scuba dive and ski.
Nancy has been involved in numerous organizations that serve those living with disabilities. She is a member of the Board of Directors of the Spina Bifida Association of Georgia. She served previously on the Junior Committee for the Shepherd Center in Atlanta, Georgia, which raises funds for the Center’s therapeutic recreation program.
Nancy is a first grade teacher at Meadowcreek Elementary School in the Gwinnett County Public Schools system. Prior to this position, she worked for Decatur City Schools providing inclusion support to elementary school students with intellectual and physical disabilities.
Born and raised in Decatur, Georgia, Nancy received her Master in the Art of Teaching degree from Mercer University in 2007, where she was awarded the Tift College of Education Outstanding Graduate Student Award in Early Childhood Education at Mercer University. She received a Bachelor’s degree in Communications from the University of Arizona in 2002, and was the recipient of the 2002 Kathryn A. Governal Perserverance Award from the College of Social Sciences at the University.
