Kudos to Houston County Schools for their #13ReasonsWhyNOT Series
From AAASP’s own, Tommie Storms:
“This is our shout out to Houston County Schools in Warner Robins, Georgia.. This is a moving and impactful example of how our teachers are acting in truly innovative ways to identify and support kids who are in trouble, kids who feel different, kids who are bullied – because recent headlines make it abundantly clear that’s when they feel they have no place to turn, they may turn on themselves or others. **The stories you’re about to hear/see are based on the Netflix series, “13 Reasons Why.”
Please pay particular attention to Jordan’s story, because she’s one of our AAASP athletes and her beloved Sharks are a member program of AAASP, started through a grant from us through our partnership with GA DOE. She is a testament to our belief and practice that everyone is unique in their abilities and each of us is worthy of value and opportunity.
You’ll be hearing of Jordan again, because she is one of only 16 young women in the United States just chosen for the USA Paralympic Women’s Wheelchair Basketball Team.
Thank you to all these students for their leadership in making a difference and in demonstrating true compassion for others!”
